👎 Why is OpenAI So Unpopular?
Welcome, Explorer 🤖
Have you thought about how fast we’re moving?
Today while working, it hit me:
I’m brainstorming with Claude Sonnet on one monitor and generating images in Midjourney on the other.
Just two short years ago, this would have seemed like magic. 💚
Today’s Ai5:

Dream Machine Drops New Feature 🖼️
While everyone is waiting for Runway’s Gen-3 to roll out, Luma are working hard on new Dream Machine features.
This week, they gave us frame-to-frame video.
It’s super simple to use. Just upload your base image like normal, then the option to add an end frame will appear. 👇
My workflow looks something like this:
- Generate first keyframe image in Midjourney
- Use the first image as a style ref, create second keyframe image
- Bring images into DM, modify the Midjourney text prompt to contain only stylistic terms.
- Enhance prompt = off
I definitely could spend more time perfecting this but I must move on!
You can still get 5 free Dream Machine generations a day if you want to try it out.
Why is OpenAI Becoming So Unpopular? 🤔
If you haven’t noticed, the current sentiment towards OpenAI is really bad.
It’s mostly due to delays of Voice Mode, which premiered in May and was promised for a June release. Last week, it was pushed until August at least.
If you haven’t seen it, this video gives an idea of what Voice Mode can do.
As cool as it is, reading the replies on this post gives an idea of how bad things are for OpenAI right now. 👇
Alongside the delay, the recent headlines for OpenAI have been pretty much all bad:
- How OpenAI transitioned from a non-profit to a $29B for-profit company
- Former head of the NSA joins the OpenAI board
- Sam rolled out his controversial eyeball scanning digital ID crypto project, Worldcoin
Not to mention, the general consensus right now being that Claude Sonnet is significantly better than ChatGPT 4o.
While things aren’t great right now, I’m sure OpenAI will redeem themselves with a killer new product soon enough.
5 Mind Blowing Gen-3 Examples 🧠
At the end of last week, Runway gave Gen-3 access to members of the Creative Partners Program.
Since then there’s been some pretty mind-bending examples. Here’s my top 5! 👇
Really hoping to get my hands on this soon!
You can submit an application to join the Creative Partners Program here.
The Rabbit R1 is a Serious Blunder 📉
The Rabbit R1 promised to revolutionize how we interact with technology but has fallen dramatically short of expectations.
Aside from the fact the pocket sized “AI” assistant doesn’t work, it’s now compromising users.
Here’s the current status of the so-called revolutionary device:
- Fake AI: Instead of the proprietary “Large Action Model” (LAM), it primarily uses ChatGPT and hardcoded scripts.
- Limited functionality: It fails at basic tasks like ordering food or calling rides, especially when apps update their interfaces.
- Security nightmare: Hardcoded ElevenLabs API keys in the codebase potentially expose all user messages and could allow malicious actors to brick every device.
- Poor performance: It often provides inaccurate information and struggles with basic functions like determining its own location.
There’s even a group of hackers dedicated to jailbreaking the R1.
The founder has a history of overpromising and underdelivering, having previously been involved in a questionable crypto/NFT project called Gamma.
I guess we’ll add the Rabbit R1 to the list alongside the Humane AI pin.
4 Creative Things Claude Sonnet Can Do ✍️
Everyone seems to be using Claude these days, and there’s some pretty cool things you can do with Sonnet’s advanced coding capabilities. Here’s 4. 👇
Make A Screensaver
Prompt: Can you make me an animated sample screensaver? Have some Emojis bouncing around the screen at medium velocity, a dynamic dark themed background, 16:9.
Build a Paint App
Prompt: I want to create a basic Paint application. In the top menu, I want a selection of basic colors that can be selected with a checkbox. Only one color can be selected at a time. Also, add a “Fill Canvas” option, a slider to control the tip size, and a “Reset Canvas” button. The tip cursor should be shown when hovering on the canvas.
Create Interactive Dashboards
Prompt: Carefully read the attached earnings report. Put together an interactive and highly detailed but visually appealing dashboard for the client.
Create Physics Simulations
Prompt: Create an interactive projectile motion simulator with adjustable variables for Initial Velocity and Angle. Include a Simulate button to animate the projectile. Add a tail/trail to the ball that fades after one second. Provide options to slow the motion to half and quarter speed.
Pretty cool right?
While these results aren’t wildly mind-bending yet, you can see the potential. Imagine crafting a godly prompt that described an entire game or application in detail… It’s coming.
